18 July 1838 Will of Ann Pike of City Road, Middlesex, widow (proved 19 March 1841)

I Ann Pike of No 17 Andersons Buildings in the City Road
in the County of Middlesex widow do declare this to be my last Will and
Testament I desire to be buried by my late Husband Samuel Pike in a
plain Oak Coffin the expences of my Funeral to be defrayed from what
monies I may have in the Bank of England at the time of my decease
and also the expences attendant upon the execution of this my Will
I give to my son Francis Pike my Parlor Carpet and Rug and Fender 
my Pair of Plates Candlesticks Chimney Glass brooch set in Jet and one
Silver Table Spoon and I desire my twelve Silver Tea Spoons to be 
equally divided among such of my four Children as should be living 


at the time of my decease the Eldest of such Children to choose first and the 
rest in succession To my Sons Samuel Pike and the said Francis Pike I leave 
a silk Umbrella apiece I give and bequeath my Watch to my Grand daughter
Mary Ann Pike daughter of the said Samuel Pike I give and bequeath my
work box to my Granddaughter Henrietta Newman daughter of the 
hereinafter mentioned Elizabeth Ann Newman Wife of Allan Newman
and I leave my Clothes Table and Bed Linen and the portion of 
Furniture which shall belong to me at my decease to be equally divided 
between my two daughters the said Elizabeth Ann Newman & Sidwell
Hazeldine And Whereas my said son Samuel Pike is indebted to me in 
the sum of Seventy five pounds besides the sum of Eighteen pounds
hereinafter mentioned Now I do hereby give and bequeath unto my
said daughter Sidwell the sum of Forty pounds to and for her own sole
use and benefit to be paid to her by the said Samuel Pike out of the said
debt or sum of Seventy five pounds And I give to my Son Francis the
sum of Thirty pounds to be paid to him by my said son Samuel out
of the said sum of Seventy five pounds due to me as aforesaid And the 
remaining sum of Five pounds part thereof I give to my said son
Samuel Pike And I declare my Will and meaning to be that if the said 
debt or sum of Seventy five pounds shall be discharged or paid by the
said Samuel Pike in my lifetime that the said two sums of Forty pounds
and thirty pounds shall be paid to my said daughter Sidwell and my
said son Francis respectively out of the residue of my Estate and Effects
And I declare that the Eighteen pounds lent by me to my said son 
Samuel exclusive of the before mentioned sum of Seventy five pounds
shall go and be in discharge of his Bill against me for Seventeen
pounds nine shillings and nine pence and with the exception of these
two debts I freely forgive all other debts and sums of money that may
be due to me from my Children at the time of my decease And I give 
and bequeath to my said daughter Elizabeth Ann Newman all my
interest in and arising from the Ground rent of Premises situate in
Hames Street Pentonville in the County of Middlesex late in the 
occupation of Mr Emmet for and during the term of her natural life for
her sole use and benefit free from the debts control and engagements 			I desire that the picture
of her present or any future husband and from and after her decease I			of the King of France
give and bequeath the same to my two sons the said Samuel and				be given to my said 
Francis and my said daughter Sidwell Hazeldine or the survivors 			son Samuel Pike at
or survivor of them living at her decease but if they should all die in			the time of my decease
the lifetime of my said daughter Elizabeth Ann then the same to 
become the Property of my said daughter Elizabeth Ann and to be at 
her sole and absolute disposal I give to my said son Samuel the
interest on the said sum of Seventy five pounds which may be due from him
at the time of my decease and a Gold Pin known by the name of Blue
beards Key I give and bequeath my mourning ring to my said
daughter Elizabeth Ann and my Brooch to my said daughter Sidwell
with the Basket and Glass that came from France I give & bequeath 
to Sarah Pike the Wife of Francis Pike a Gold ring with the Cypher 
Richard Wood and I give and bequeath the Rest Residue and
Remainder of my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto
and among my four Children or such of them as may be living at my
decease share and share alike And I appoint my said daughter
Elizabeth Ann Executrix and my said son Francis Pike Executor of this
which I declare to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof
I have to this my Will contained in two sheets of paper set my hand
and affixed my seal in manner following that is to say to the first
sheet my hand and to the second and last sheet thereof set my hand 
and affixed my seal dated this eighteenth day of July one thousand

in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our

Appeared Personally Thomas Cartwright of No
2 Wilson Street Finsbury Square in the County of Middlesex Gentleman & made
Oath the he is the Drawer and Writer of and also one of the subscribed Witnesses
to the last Will and Testament of Ann Pike late of No 17 Andersons Buildings 
City Road in the County of Middlesex Widow deceased bearing date the 
eighteenth day of July one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight now here
unto annexed the same being comprized in two sheets of paper And he further 
made Oath that on the eighteenth day of July aforesaid the said Testatrix duly
executed her said Will by signing her name at the foot or end thereof in the 
presence of this Deponent William Dalman and James Booth the other
subscribed Witnesses thereto all of whom were present at the same time and 
this Deponent William Dalman and James Booth thereupon attested and
subscribed the said Will in the presence of the said Testatrix and of each other 
and referring to the words "I desire that the Picture of the King of France be 
given to my said son Samuel Pike at the time of my decease" written in the
margin of the second sheet of the said Will he deposes and says that the
said legacy was so written by him by the direction of the said

Pasley Robertson Doctor of Laws & Surrogate by the Oath of Elizabeth
Ann Newman (Wife of Allan Newman) the daughter one of the Exors to whom
Admon was granted having been first sworn duly to administer Power reserved 
of making the like Grant to Francis Pike the Son the other Executor
