Freshwater (Conception Bay) Methodist Baptisms

Some comments about this list:

• The entries below are in the same order as presented in the church records, which may not be in chronological order.
• Unless I mistakenly overlooked an entry or two, this is a complete list of all Pike entries.
• When I happened to notice a person with Pike as their middle name, I included it in my transcription.

At PANL these records are in a single volume as follows:

• 1858, 1883 - 1948

In between entries 1904 and 1905 (both of which are Pike entries) "(Mac)" had been written in the original register, along with initials "WRB" (which I assume are for a minister making an annotation). Incidentally, in the Mt Pleasant Cemetery in St. John's, there is a headstone for a "Mark (Mac) Pike, 1912-1989" ... this stone is also for "Ada (Nan) 1918-2003". Given also the last of the baptisms listed below is for a child of "Mark Reuben and Ada Pike", it seems likely that it is entry 1905 (for a Mark Reuben Pike born in 1912) that the "Mac" was meant to apply to. This conclusion is further supported by the obituary for Mark (Mac) Pike, which I have placed on my page for Pike obituaries.

At the very end of the volume is a copy of the first page of a letter as follows:
