Burin Catholic Burials

What follows is a list of all Pike burials in the Burin Catholic church records held at PANL as of August 2005. This list constitutes a typescript of my handwritten extraction from photocopies of the original records, which is to say that I may have inadvertantly introduced some errors while transcribing and typing... as always, you should double-check against the original records. That said, if you spot any mistakes that I have made, please let me know at dapike@mun.ca. Additional Pike entries from other Newfoundland church records can also be found on my website.

There actually aren't any volumes of burial records among the Burin RC records at PANL. Rather, there are a few mentions of deaths on page 74 of the 1866-1894 baptism volume, and in Box 5 there are two sheets of deaths that appear to have been intended for submission to the Office of Vital Statistics. In all there are only three Pike entries in these records.

If you are looking for burial records after 1892, then you might find it useful to consult the civil registration records that I have transcribed.

Martha Pike, died 29 Nov [the year is not stated] at Spanish Room, of inflammation of the throat and lungs

George Pike, died 12 August [1892 ?] at St Pierre, having drowned

Anthony Pike, died 14 Nov 1916 at Burin of menengitis. He was aged 7, born at Burin, and buried at Burin.
