Argentia Catholic Records

What follows is a list of all Pike entries in the Argentia Catholic records held at PANL as of March 2006. This list constitutes a typescript of my handwritten extraction from photocopies of the original records, which is to say that I may have inadvertantly introduced some errors while transcribing and typing... as always, you should double-check against the original records. That said, if you spot any mistakes that I have made, please let me know at dapike@mun.ca. Additional Pike entries from other Newfoundland church records can also be found on my website.

Some comments about this list:

The entries below are in the same order as presented in the church records, which may not be in chronological order.
Unless I mistakenly overlooked an entry or two, this is a complete list of all Pike entries.
Also included are entries where a Pike was a sponsor or witness.

At PANL these records are in volumes as follows:

Baptisms (1835 - 1897)

The first baptism below might not be for a Pike. However, I included it since the child's mother might be the same Mary Norman that married John Pike in 1851. I did not look for additional instances of Mary Norman (I just happened to get lucky and notice this baptism after I had gone through the records in Box 1 and noticed the baptism in the index in Box 2).

Burials (1835 - 1941)

There were no burial entries in the records at PANL. However, in Box 2 there was an index to burials from 1835 to 1941. This index contained no Pike entries.
