In the Name of God Amen
I Joseph Saunders of Kings Cove Bonavista Bay Planter being in per
fect health of body and of perfect mind & memory thanks be given to God
calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed
for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and testament
that is to say Principally and first of all I give & recommend my Soul into
the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the
Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors
nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same
again by the Mighty power of God And as touching such Worldly Estate
wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and
dispose of the same in the following manner and form First I give and
bequeath to Martha my dearly beloved Wife the interest of my funded
money in England together with the hire of my fishing room in this
place Also I give to Martha the daughter of my late son John the sum
of twenty pounds Sterling And also to each of the four children of Richard
Dykes I give twenty pounds Sterling Also I give to my three daughters
Mary Samson to Elizabeth Brown and to Sarah Brown All that
remains of my funded money at England after the decease of the 
above Martha Saunders The Fishing room to be given at the decease of
my Wife to the two brothers Thomas & James Brown to be equally divided
between them together with the Storehouse And to William Samsom
the Dwelling house the Fishermens house and Gardens and Cellar house
I do likewise constitute make and ordain Mr John Coffin the sole Executor
of this my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal this tenth day of July one thousand eight hundred
& forty one   Joseph Saunders  LS  Signed sealed & delivered &
declared by the said Joseph Saunders in the presence of us who in his
presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our
names  J Stewart   John Coffin   Thomas Walley Witnesses

Codicil In addition to the before mentioned sum of twenty pounds
Sterling to be paid to my Grand child Martha Sanders I now bequeath
the sum of twenty pounds more making in all the sum of forty pounds

	I Charles simms Chief Clerk & Registrar of the Supreme Court
	Do Certify that the annexed paper writings marked No1 & No2 respect
	ively are correct Copies of the Probate and the original last Will and
	testmant of Joseph Saunders late of Kings Cove in this Island decea-
	sed as the same remains of Record and that administration has been
	duly granted of the estate of the said testator to Martha Saunders the
	Widow the Executor named in the said Will having renounced his
	Executorship Given under my hand and the seal of the said Court
	this 30th day of January A D 1850  Chas Simms C C & Registrar

On the 12th Decr 1850 Admon (with the Will and Codicil annexed) of the
Goods chattels and Credits of Joseph Saunders late of Kings Cove Bona Vista
Bay Newfoundland Planter deceased was granted to Martha Saunders
Widow the Relict of the said deceased having been first Sworn by Comon
duly to Administer. John Coffin the sole Executor having renounced
the probate and execution of the said Will. No Residuary Legatee
