In the name of God Amen
the Sixth day of November in the twelfth yeare of the Reigne of King
William the third over England &c Anno?? Dni 1700 I Daniell Moody of
Portsmouth in the County of Southton gent being weak in body but of sound
mind and disposing memory doe make and declare my last Will and Testamt
in manner following (that is to say) I give my soul to God hopeing for
pardon of my Sinns and inheritance of eternall life through the alone merrits
of Jesus Christ my blessed saviour and Redeemer my body I give to the
Earth to be buryed at the discrecon of my Executors my Worldly Estate
I give as followeth ImpRs upon this expresse condition that Mary my wife
shall and doe within one moneth next after my decease make seale and 
execute to my Trustees and Executors hereinafter named for the use of
my Heires one or more Release or Releases of all her Dower or thirds
which she shall then have or ought to have of in and to all my messuages
tenements and hereditaments whatsoever I doe give devise and bequeath 
to the said Mary my wife for and dureing her naturall life all those my
two Tenements with the Backsides and appurtenances scituate lying and
being on the Northside of the High Streete in Portsmouth aforesaid the
one on the East and the other on the West sides of my new built
messuage or tenement now in the possession of Walter Harford and
upon the same Condition above expressed I alsoe give to my said wife
one annuity or yearely Rent charge of twenty pounds PER Ann?? dureing 
her naturall life payable and issueing out of my said New erected
Messuage or Tenement and the Malthouse and appurtenances now in the
possession of the said Walter Harford and of the Barne and Storehouse
thereunto belonging now in the possession of the Office of Ordnance by
half yearely payments to begin the first Six monethes after my
decease with power to enter and discraine for the same from Six
monethes to Six monethes fore and dureing her naturall life in cas
of non payment thereof And I give her tenn pounds to buy her
mourning But in case she shall neglect or refuse to release her Dower
or Thirds as aforesaid in the time above expresst then all Legacyes
and bequests herein by me given to her shall cease and be utterly void
and of none effect to all intents and purposes whatsoever and then and
in that case I give the said two Tenements above menconed and alsoe
the said Annuity of twenty pounds PER Ann?? to my daughter Anne
Moody Itm?? I give devise and bequeath to my said daughter Anne
Moody all that my said new erected Messuage or Tenement with the
Malthouse Barne and Storehouse in the possession of the said Walter
Harford and the Office of Ordnance backside Garden and the two
Tenements above menconed after the death of my said wife if she
performes the conditions above written and all and singular the
appurtenances thereunto belonging To have and to hold all and
singular the said messuages or tenements Malthouse Barne Storehouse
backside garden and premisses with th'appurtenances unto my said
daughter Anne Moody and the Heires of her body lawfully to be begotten
And for want of such Issue I give devise and bequeath the same and
every part thereof with theappurtenances to my daughter Mary
Moody and the Heires of her body lawfully to be begotten And for
want of such Issue I give devise and bequeath the same and every part
and parcell thereof with th'appurtenances unto to my Grand daughers



Elizabeth Harford and Mary Harford daughters of the said Walter
Harford and to the Heires of the said Elizabeth Harford and Mary Harford
for ever Itm? I give devise and bequeath unto my said daughter Mary
Moody all that my Now dwelling house in Portsmouth aforesaid with the
Garden and appurtences which I purchased of William Cozens and alsoe
all that my messuage tenement or Inn called the Waggon and Lamb
in Portsmouth aforesaid with the stables backsides garden and
appurtenances To have and to hold the said messuages or tenements and
all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to my said daughter Mary
moody and the Heires of her body lawfully to be begotten And for want
of such Issue I give the same and every part and parcell thereof with
their and every of their appurtenances to my daughter Anne Moody and
the Heires of her body lawfully to be begotten And for want of such
Issue I give devise and bequeath my said dwelling house with th'appurtences
to the said Elizabeth Harford and Mary Harford and their Heires for ever
And the said messuage or tenement called the Waggon and Lamb with
the stables backside garden and theappurtences I give devise and bequeath
to my Grandson Daniell Harford and his Heires forever Itm? I give 
devise and bequeath unto Thomas White of Portsmouth aforesaid Baker
Samuell Hentie of Portsmouth aforesaid Chandler and Roger Seager
of Portsmouth aforesaid Taylor and to the survivors and survivor of
them and to the Heires and Assignes of such survivor All my messuages or
Tenement Barnes Stables backsides and gardens with all and singular
their and every of their appurtenances scituate lying and being on the
Southside of St Thomas's Streete in Portsmouth aforesaid formerly my
Aunt Cleverlys To be sold as soon as they conveniently can by them the
said Thomas White Samuell Hentie and Roger Seager or the Survivors
and Survivor of them or by the Heires or Assignes of such Survivor
to the best advantage they can and with and out of the money raised by
the sale thereof to pay off and discharge the Mortgage of one hundred
pounds that is thereupon and the Interest thereof and to pay and
apply the overplus money that shall be made thereof towards
satisfacion of the Mortgage of one hundred and fifty pounds which I
owe to Mrs Sarah Hall widdow upon my now dwelling house and whatsoever
shall fall short thereof I desire may be paid out of my personall
Estate it being my expresse will and desire that the said mortgage may
be paid off and dicharged as soon as may be that the said messuage or
tenement may come cleare of incumbrances to my said daughter Mary
Itm? I give to my said Grandson Daniell Harford a Guinea and to
my Servant Anne Long forty shillings Item I will and desire that my said
wife may have the keeping of my children at such price and dureing
such time as my Executors their Guardians or two of them shall
agree and see fitting And I doe give unto my said wife the use of the
severall householdgoods which are menconed and sett downe in a
schedule entitled the goods whereof my wife is to have the use
according to the direccon and appointment in my last Will and
Testament which said schedule is signed by my owne hand which
Goods I will my wife shall have the use of all the said goods while
she keeps my Children and remaines my widdow But my will is that 
when my Executors hereafter named takes my Children from her or
when she shall marry or when they shall come to their full ages or be
married which soever shall first happen the said goods shall all be



returned by my said wife to my said Children or to their Guardians
for their use reasonable weareing only excepted Itm? I make nominate and
appoint my Friends Thomas White of Portsmouth aforesaid Baker
Samuell Hentie of Portsmouth aforesaid Chandler and Roger Seager
of Portsmouth aforesaid Taylor to be Executors in Trust on behalf of
my Children of this my Will and when my Debts are paid and my goods not
herein otherwise given are sold by my Executors if there be any thing
of my personall Estate left I give it equally to devided between my children
Itm? I doe make and appoint the said Thomas White Samuell Hentie and 
Roger Seager to be Guardians to both my said Children till they shall
attaine their severall ages of one and twenty yeares apeice or be
lawfully marryed which shall first happen And I give them a Guinea apeice
for their care and paines therein In witnesse whereof revoakeing and
makeing void all other and former Wills by me made and declared both
by word and writing I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day
and yeare abovewritten DMoodey signed sealed published and declared
by the said Daniell Moody to be his last Will and Testament in presence
of us after the words (and she remaines my widdow) and these words
(or when she shall marry) were interlined  Will: Ward  Michll
