In the Name of God Amen:
The twenty Nineth Day of November Anno Dni One Thousand seven
Hundred and Four And in the third year of her Maties Raigne &c I
Elizabeth Hicks of Portsmouth in the county of Southton Widdow being
Sick and weake in Body but of sound and perfect minde and memory 
Doe make and Declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and
forme following (that is to say) First I give my Soul to God and my body
to the Earth to be decently buryed at the expence of twenty pounds and
noe more which I will my Executrix shall pay out of the old Gold I shall
leave Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Spicer
All that my now dwelling House in St Thomas Street in Portsmouth aforesaid
with the Backside Garden and Appurtenances thereunto belonging for
and dureing the terme of her naturall Life And after her decease i give
and bequeath the same unto my grand Daughter Mary Spicer and the
Heires of her Body lawfully to be begotten for ever Item I give and
bequeath unto my grand Daughter Elizabeth Spicer All those my
Messuages and Tenements with the Backsides and appurtenances now in
the possession of John Woodford and George Gilbert formerly called the
Wheat Sheafe and Pidgeons Scituate lyeing and being in Oyster Street in
Portsmouth aforesaid To Have and to Hold the said Elizabeth my grand
Daughter and the Heirs of her Body lawfully to be begotten for ever
Item I give and bequeath unto my grand Daughter Susannah Spicer
All that my Malthouse Barne and Backside with the appurtenances
Scituate lyeing and being on the Northside of the High Street in Portsmouth
aforesaid now in the possession of William Mudge To Have and to Hold
to my said grand Daughter Susanna Spicer and the Heires of her body
lawfully to be begotten for ever Item I give and bequeath unto my grand
Daughter Hannah Spicer and to the Heirs of her Body lawfully to be
begotten for ever All those my Messuages or Tenements and Stonehouse
with the appurtenances Scituate lying and being on the North side of the
little Lane in Oyster Street in Portsmouth aforesaid now in the 
possession of James Bartlett one Payne and others And in case that
any or either of my said Four grand Daughters shall happen to
depart this naturall Life under her or their age or ages of one and
twenty yeares and without lawfull Issue of her or their Body or Bodies
That then in that case I doe give devise and bequeath the EState or
Estates of her or them soe Dying to be equally Divided and shared
among and between the survivor and survivors of my said Four
Grand Daughters and my Grand Daughters Keturah and Sarah
and their Heires for ever item I will that the sume of Two Hundred
and Fifty pounds which I owe upon Bond and the Interest thereof



shall be raised and paid out of the rents issues and profitts of the
Messuages or Tenements and premisses before mentioned (except my
dwelling House which I have given to my said Daughter for her Life) soe
soon after my Decease as the same can possibly be done and after payment
of the said Two Hundred and Fifty pounds and Interest Then I will that
the said rents issues and profitts (and alsoe the rents issues and profitts
of my now dwelling House after the Decease of my said Daughter) shall goe
and be applyed towards the bringing up my said six grand Daughters
And for the better effecting thereof I doe hereby give full power and 
authority to my son in Law Captaine Luke Spicer Thomas Hamond of
Portsmouth aforesaid gent Samuel Henty of the same Tallow Chandler
Charles Read of the same Mercer and George Huish of the same gent
and the survivor and survivors of them to lett and Dispose of the said
messuages or Tenements and premisses and to receive the rents issues
and profitts thereof and to apply and dispose of the same to the uses
aforesaid and to pay the Remainder (if any be) equally to my said six
grand Daughters and the survivor and survivors of them at such
time or times as they shall be capable to give Discharges for the same
Item I give to my said grand Daughter Elizabeth Spicer my silver
Tankard To my said grand Daughter Susanna Spicer my biggest
Silver Cup with the Cover to it To my said Grand Daughter Mary
Spicer my Silver Casters To my said grand Daughter Hannah Spicer
my great Silver Sugar Box To my grand Daughter Keturah Spicer my
great Silver Salt And to my grand Daughter Sarah Spicer my large
Silver Plate Item all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate goods
chattells rights and creditts whatsoever I doe give devise and bequeath
to my said Daughter Elizabeth Spicer And doe hereby make nominate
and appoint her whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and 
Testament In Witness whereof (revokeing all former Wills by me made)
I the said Elizabeth Hicks have to this my last Will and Testament set
my hand and seale the Day and year above written Eliz: Hicks Signed
Sealed published and declared in the presence of us Eliz: Jackson John
Harris John Woodford

I the abovenamed Elizabeth
Hicks Doe by this my Codicill which I hereby Declare to be part
of my last Will and Testament above written Further give and
bequeath to my said grand Daughter Keturah Spicer the sume of one
Hundred pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid to her by
my said grand Daughter Elizabeth Spicer or the Heires of her body
within twelve Months next after the Messuages or Tenements and premisses
herein before given to my said grand Daughter Elizabeth shall according
to the direction of my said Will come to the possession of the said
Elizabeth or the Heirs or her Body with the payment of which said
sume I doe hereby charge the said Messuages or Tenements and
premisses And I further give to my said grand Daughter Sarah
Spicer the like sume of One Hundred pounds To be paid to her by
my said grand Daughter Susannah Spicer or the Heires of her body
within twelve Moneths next after the Maulthouse Barne Backside
and premisses herein before given to my said grand Daughter Susanna
Spicer shall come to the possession of the said Susanna or the Heires of



her Body with the payment of which said last mentioned sume I doe
hereby alsoe charge the said Maulthouse Barne Backside and 
premisses Witness my hand and seale the twenty third Day of December
Anno Dni One Thousand seven Hundred and Four Eliz: Hickes Witnesses
hereunto Elizabeth Jackson John Harris John Woodford
