In the Name of God Amen the Eight and Twentyth day of February
In the Fower and Twentyth yeare of the Raigne of our soveraigne Lord King
Charles the second over England &c And in the yeare of our Lord 1671 I Mary
Hart of the City of Bristoll Widdow being of sound Mind and perfect Memory
Tanks be given to Almighty God for the same yet being sick and weake in body
and uncerteine of the tyme of my Death and dissolucon I doe now therefore make
my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following That is to say First
and principally I bequeath my Soule into the hands of Almighty God and
my Body to be comitted tot he Earth from whence it was taken To be decently
buryed at the discrecon of my Executor hereafter named trusting that by the
meritts of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ I may receive everlasting life and
salvation Also for the disposall of the wordly Goods Lands and money which I
have First I give and bequeath unto the Poore people of the Parish of Temple Three
Pownds To be distributed amongst them by my Executor hereafter named by
and with the advice of my Overseers of this my Will at or on the day of my
Funerall Item I give and bequeath unto Mr Chettyin Minister of Temple church
Twenty shillings as a Token of my Love and is in fail of all Dues he can
demannd Item I give unto Mr Humphry Brent Minister Forty shillings whome
I appoint and desire to preach my funerall sermon Item I give unto my Three
brothers Francis Knight Sr John Knight and Isaac Knight and to my sister
Elizabeth Lawford Twenty shillings a peece as Tokens of my Love to buy them
Rings Item I give unto my Cosen Mary Bub Three Pownds To be disposed to hers
and  Childrens use according to her owne disrecon Item I give unto my
Kinswoman Elizabeth Pitts Twenty shillings in token of  Love Item I give
unto my Cosen Robert Browne Twenty shillings to buy him a Ring Alsoe I give
unto the Two Children of Judith Browne by him the said Robert Twenty
shillings a peece To be paid unto him for theire use Item I remitt and discharg
my Cosen William Hart of B???itt of all such moneyes he oweth me and doe
desire my Executor and order him to delyver up his Books Item I give unto
Elizabeth lately my servant maid Fyve shillings Item I give unto my eldest
sonn Richard Hart a Flazon silver salt a Duzzen of spoones a Clarret wyne
Boule and sack Boule and my best sute of Damask lynnen Item I give unto his
sonn Charles Hart a silver Trinkett and a next of silver salt sellers together
with a silver Porrenger Item I give and bequeath unto my sonn Arthur Hart
Fyve Pownds of lawfull money of England To be paid him within a month
after my Decease Item I give and bequeath unto my said sonn George Hart
All that my Lease Estate and Interest of and in all that my messuage or
Tenement Orchard Garden stable and other Outhouses with the appurtenncs
now in the tenure of Arthur Hatthaway Butcher situat and being in Britten in


the County of Gloucester To have and to hold unto him the said George Hart
his executors administrators and assignes for and during the continuance of
my Lease and Estate therein for the lyv? of Thomas Burnell Katherin his
wife and Thomas theire sonn and the life of the longest lyver of them Item I
farther give unto my said sonn George Hart Fyfty Pownds of lawfull money
of England To be paid unto the said George Hart within Tenn yeares after
my decease for this use and Trust That is to say my will and meaning touching
the Fyfty Pownds before menconed given to my said sonn George Hart is to be
and remaine in his hands for the use of the Child his wife Anne now goeth with
or any other Child the said George Hart shall have at the end of Tenn yeares
Item I further give and bequeath unto my said sonn George Hart a silver
Flagon as a Token of my Love Item I give unto my said sonn George All my
houshold stuff and Goods whatsoever in his houses at Bedminister Item I give
and bequeath unto my said sonn George the little house I lately built out of one
part of his stable Together with all Charges laid out on the house Item I
give unto my sonn George the One half part of all my hay at Bedminister Item I give
and bequeath unto my sonn John Hart All that my Messuage or Tenement with
the appurtenances now in the occupacon of Robert Merritt Taylor and Goodwife
Thomas Together with a Garden in possession of Mr JOhn Hawkins and also all the
Goods and houshold stuff which shall be remayning in the house at the tyme of my
decease situat and being in Temple street in the Parish of Temple in the said City
of Bristoll To have and to hold the said Messuage Goods and premisses unto the
said John Hart for and during the terme of his naturall life And from and after
his decease my Will is that it shall remaine unto the heires of his body lawfully
to be begotten And for defalt of such heires my Will and Intent is That the
last named Messuage Goods and premisses shall be and remaine unto my sonn
George Hart his heirs and assignes for ever Item I give           unto
my sonn John Hart A silver Tankard and a Clarrett wine Bowle with a small
sack Bowle and a silver salt seller and Six silver spoones Item I give and bequeath
unto my said sonn John a Feather bedd and bolster and a fl??k bedd and bolster and
a paire of blancketts with Two paire of sheets and an ordinary paire of Canvas
sheets with Two pillow cases and pillowes Item I give unto my said sonn John
all the residue of my Linnen Brasse and pewter after that the particulars of linnen
brasse and pewter are receyved by the persons to whome I have given any part
thereof my Will and meaning is That after my Daughter Ballard and others
named and to be named have had what I have bequeathed and intent to give
That then my said sonn John to have all the Remainder Item I give unto my
daughter Elizabeth Ballard Twoe silver Candle Cupps a s???? Chest of silver
and a plate together with a wrought silver dish Item I give unto my said
daughter Elizabeth One Duzzen and a half of Gowlas Napkins and a Table
Cloth hem'd and stitc'ht Together with all my wearing apparrell Item I
farther give her One feather bedd and bolster and all my Child bedd linnen
Item I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Elizabeth Ballards Two
sonnes John and George Ballard Fyfty Pownds of lawfull money of England
a peece To be paid unto them and every of them respectively at theire age
of One and Twenty yeares And my Will and intest further herein is That 
the aforesaid sume of fyfty Pownds a peece given unto the said John and
George Ballard shall within a Twelve Moneth after my decease be putt
into the Chamber of the city of Bristoll by my Executor and the use and
profitt of the said Money by mee divised  to the said John and George
								Ballard


Ballard during theire minority I give unto my said daughter Elizabeth
Farther I declare my Will and meaning toching the devise by mee made to
John and George Ballard of Fyfty Pownds a peece That if it should happen
that either of them should dye before the accomplishment of theire age of
One and Twenty That then   said sume by mee given shall be and remaine
unto the survivor of them And farther its my Will That in Case both John
and George Ballard should happen to dye without accomplishment of the
age of One and Twenty yeares That then it shall be and remaine unto and
for the uses of any other Child or Children my said Daughter Elizabeth may
or shall have Item I gyve unto my sonn Arthur Hart All my Goods which
are in his houses upon the Bridg of Bristoll and also all my Goods and
houshold stuff which are in his houses  in Wine streete in   said City
Item I give unto my brother Mr George Greenuff Twenty shillings as
a Token of my Love to buy him a Ring Item I give and bequeath unto my
kinswoman Mrs V??y The sume of Twenty shillings as a Token of my love
Item I give unto her more Twenty shill: for the use of her sick daughter and some of my
old Clothes Item I give unto my Cosen Thomas Littman Twenty shillings
as a Token of Love to buy him a Ring Item all the rest of my moneyes
Bonds specialtyes Goods Chattells Debts Rights Creditts and personall
Estate whatsoever (my Plate lynnen Brasse Pewter and other houshold
Goods and Legacys aforesaid otherwise above bequeathed or herein after
bequeathed only excepted) my deceased husband Mr George Harts
Legacyes and my owne Debts and Legacys being fully paid and my funerall expences
discharged I wholy give and bequeath unto my said sonn Richard Hart
whome I make constitute and appoint my full and whole Executor of
this my last Will and Testament Item I entreat and appoint my loving
brother Mr Francis Knight and my said sonn George Hart to be Overseers
of this my last Will and Testament desiring theire best advise and
assistence unto my said Executor for the due performance of this my will
In witnes whereof I the said Mary Hart have to this my last will and
Testament conteyned in Two sheets of paper sett my hand and seale the day
