In the name of God Amen I Thomas
Guy of the Island of Barbadoes Merchant being at the present in good and
perfect memorie, Thanks be given to Almighty God though somewhat sickly and
weake of bodie calling to mind the frailtie and uncertaintie of this mortall life
thought fitting to constitute this my present will and testament First I bequeath
my soule to Almighty God my Creator and Jesus Christ my Redeemer
stedfastly believing that through his merits and sufferings I shall have and
obteine full remission of all my sinnes and have fellowship among the blessed
Saints in Heaven. Next I bequeath my bodie to the earth to be decently buried
where and as my executor shall think fit. As for that my personall estate
I have already or hereafter shall have in England which it hath pleased God
to bestowe upon me there I doe here by these presents soly and totally give and
bequeath unto my loving friende Captaine Tobias Frere, To say All my Rents
that he already hath or hereafter shall receive and recover out of the ?????rs
called Braton and Flor?s in the Countie of Essex as likewise all other Legacies
given to me by my mother Jane Athus and my brother Henry Guy in their
last wills and testaments He being my lawfull Attorney in England and by
me constituted for the recoverie of the same as by his letter ??? Attorney will
more at large appeare Item for ?? the rest of all my personall estate here
in the Island of Barbados my debts and Legacies here given being first satisfied
I doe equally divide and dispose of to my assured loving friends Captaine John
Frere and Captaine Christopher Carew whome I doe make and hereby ??????e
and ordaine my sole and onely executors of this my last will and testament Item
I doe give and bequeath unto Captaine John Frere Five pounds sterling And
to Mrs Anne Frere his wife five pounds more in money The which said
tenne pounds I doe hereby appoint and order to be paid by Captaine Tobias
Frere out of the money he shall or already hath recovered of mine in England
to buy each of them a ring Next of all my desire is that these my small
Legacies hereafter following my debts here being first satisfied which are to be
done out of this my estate here in Barbados be truely and duely performed
by my said executors Captaine John Frere and Captaine Christopher Carew
First I give and bequeath unto Mr William Frere my loving friend Captaine
John Freres Nephew my new Buffe belt with silver buckles Item I give
and bequeath to Mr John Jessop one hundred pounds of sugar Item I give
and bequeath to Mr Nathaniell Trevanyon one hundred pounds of sugar
Item I give and bequeath to my loving friend Mr John Ditoe my blacke
Demicaster and silver band Item I give and bequeath to Mr John Carew
one hundred pounds of sugar Item I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Crutchlowe
my god-daughter the daughter of James Crutchlowe one hundred pounds
of sugar Item I give and bequeath unto Theophilus Brereton servant to Captaine
Frere one hundred pounds of sugar Last of all I doe request my said executrs
Captaine John Frere and Captaine Christopher Carewe to duely satsifie Doctor
John Carew and Tho Edlyn for what hath bene administred to me And this my
will to be iustly and truely performed Renouncing and revoking here by these



Presents all former wills and testaments And doe hereby declare and publish this present writing
to be my last will and testament In witnesse whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and seale this eighteenth of ???tember In the yeare of our Lord God one thousand sixe
hundred Fiftie sixe Tho: Guy Signed sealed and declivered in presence of us John Jessopp
John Carew William Frere

On the fourth day of May In the yeare of our Lord God one thousand
sixe hundred Fiftie nine Issued fortie Letters of Administracon to Tobias Frere a Legatee named
in this will To administer so much onely of the goods Chattells and debts of the said
Thomas Guy the testator deceased as is remaining and being in England according
to the t??? and effect of the said will He being first sworne truely to administer The said will
being pronounced ?? by a diff?????????????????? behalfe recd and promulgated
