In the Name of God Amen
I Young Green of the Town and County of Pool Merchant being
in health of Body and sound mind and memory (blessed be
God) do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in
manner following (that is to say) First I will that all my Debts be
paid and discharged Also I give and devise unto my loving Wife
Susanna Green all and singular my Freehold Messuages Lands
Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever with their appurtenances
scituate lying and being in the said Town and County of Pool To hold
the same and every part thereof with the Appurtenances unto my
said Wife and her Assigns for and during the Term of her
Widowhood and from and imediately after her death or intermarriage
with another Husband (which shall first happen) I give and
devise all my said Freehold Lands Tenements and Hereditaments in
Poole aforesaid with their and every of their Appurtenances unto
my two Sons John Green and Young Green in manner following
(that is to say) All that my Messuage Tenement or Dwelling
House in which I now live scituate in the High Street in the said
Town and County of Poole with the Shop Garden Outhouses
Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging I give and
devise unto my said Son John Green and his Heirs To Hold the
same and every part and parcel thereof with the Appurtenances
unto my said Son John Green his Heirs and Assigns for ever
also I give and devise unto my said Son Young Green and
his Heirs All that my Warehouse and Cellar with the Garden
Lands Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging
scituate and being in or near a Street called Market Street in the
said Town and County of Poole sometime since belonging unto
John Spicer Apothecary deceased To hold the same and every
part and parcel thereof with the Appurtenances unto my said
Son Young Green his Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I give
and bequeath unto my said Wife all that my Rope Walk
with the Utensils and all Implements belonging unto my Trade
of Rope making and all Houses Edifices Buildings Gardens
Closes Lands Meadows Pastures Commons Hereditaments and
Appurtenances thereunto adjoining or belonging scituate lying and
being with the said Town and County of Poole To hold the same
and  every part and parcel thereof with the Appurtenances unto
my said Wife for and during the Term of her Widowhood (if the Estate
and Interest which I now have therein shall so long continue) and
I hereby Impower my said Wife either to let the same and
every part    thereof to Rent or to Sell and dispose
thereof as she shall think fit and if she Sells the same I will
that she put the Purchase Money for the same out at Interest
and the Interest thence arising I give unto my said Wife for
her own use during the time she shall continue my Widow
and from and imediately after her death or intermarriage with



an other Husband (which shall first happen) I give and bequeath
the said Rope Walk with the Utensils and Implements belonging unto
my Trade of Ropemaking and all Houses Edifices Buildings Gardens
Closes Lands Meadows Pastures and Appurtenances thereunto
belonging unto my said Son Young Green his Executors administrators
and Assigns for and during all the rest residue and remainder of the
Term ^ therein then to come and unexpired But if my said Wife                   ^ I have
shall think fit to Sell and dispose thereof then the Money thence
arising I give and bequeath after the death or intermarriage of my
said Wife with an other Husband (which shall first happen) unto my
said Son Young Green Also I gve and bequeath unto my said Wife
Susanna Green all that Leasehold Estate or Tenement heretofore
called Archers Tenement lying at Cow grove in the Parish of
Winborne Minster in the County of Dorset with the Messuage or
Dwelling House Barns Stables Outhouses Lands Meadows Feedings
Commons Hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever to the said
Leasehold Tenement belonging or in any wise appertaining To hold
the same and every part and parcel thereof unto my said Wife
and her Assigns for the Term of her Widowhood from and
immediately after the Expiration or other sooner Determination of
one Indenture of Lease of the same Premises granted by John
Banks Esquire to my late Father John Green deceased bearing
date the Twenty third Day of July in the year of our Lord One
thousand seven hundred and twenty Provided always and upon
this Condition nevertheless that if she my said Wife do and shall
with all convenient speed after the Expiration or other sooner
Determination of the said last mentioned Lease at her own Costs
and Charges fill up and full state the said Leasehold Estate and
Premisses at Cowgrove aforesaid with the Lives of two of my
children which she shall think fitt (if the same can be done
and obtained on the Accustomed Terms and on Payment of the usual
Fine or Sum of Money for adding or putting in such Lives in or to
the same Tenement and Premisses and provided also if she my
said Wife shall at all times during her Widowhood keep the said
Leasehold Estate or Tenement at Cowgrove aforesaid filled up with
three lives on the Terms aforesaid) And from and imediately after
the death or Marriage of my said Wife (which shall first
happen) I give and bequeath the said Leasehold Estate or
Tenement with the Appurtenances unto and among all and every
my Children that shall be living at the time of such death or
Marriage as aforesaid to be equally divided between them share
and share alike for and during all such Term and Estate as shall
be therein then to come and unexpired And it is my Will true Intent
and meaning and I do hereby declare that in Case my said Wife
shall neglect or Omit to Comply with this my Will by keeping
the said Leasehold Tenement full Stated with three lives (on
Paying the usual Fine or Sum of Money as aforesaid) for the
space of Twelve Months next after any or either of the lives
by which the said Leasehold Tenement is now or shall be held
during the Widowhood of my said Wife Then my Will is and
I do hereby give devise and bequeath the said Tenement with
the Appurtenances unto and among all and every of my Children



that shall be living at the time of such Neglect or Omission to be
by them and every of them from thenceforth held and enjoyed share
and share alike for so long time and for such Term and Estate as
shall be therein then to come and unexpired (any thing herein
contained to the Contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding) Also
I give and bequeath unto my said Wife Susanna Green the Sum
of One thousand Pounds of lawful British Money for her own
proper use and benefit Also I give and bequeath unto my eight
children John Green Young Green Elizabeth Green Martha Green
Susanna Green Mary Green Anne Green and Sarah Green and to each
and every of of them the Sum of One thousand Pounds of like lawful
British Money to be paid unto my said Sons severally and respectively
as they shall attain their respective ages of one and twenty years
and to be paid unto my said Daughters severally and respectively
as they shall attain their several and respective ages of one and twenty
years or Day of Marriage which shall first happen Provided my
said Daughters shall severally and respectively Marry with the
Consent and Approbation of my said Wife if she be then living
or in Case of her death then with the Consent and Approbation
of my Trustees or Overseers herein after mentioned or the Survivor
of them and in case any or either of my said children shall
happen to die before attaining the Age of one and twenty years
or Days of Marriage (with such Approbation as aforesaid) Then
my Will is that the part or parts Legacy or Legacys of such
Child or Children so dying or Marrying as aforesaid shall go to
and be equally divided among the Survivor or Survivors
remainder or remainders of my said Children share and share
alike and my Will is and I do hereby order and direct that the
said several Legacys and Sums of Money herein and hereby
given unto my said several Children shall within the space
of two years (or as much sooner as can be) after my decease
be collected recovered gotten in and received by my Executrix
hereinafter named and the same and every part thereof shall
be with all convenient speed by my said Executrix by and with
the advice of my Trustees or Overseers of this my Will herein
also after named put and placed out at Interest on Government
Securitys untill my said Children shall respectively attain the Age
of One and twenty years or Days of Marriage as aforesaid and
the Interest and Proceed thereof in the mean time shall be
contstantly applied and paid for and towards the Maintenance
Education and bringing up of my said Children and the Sum or
legacy of One thousand Pounds hereinbefore given unto each of
my said Children respectively together with what Interest
shall become due for the same shall be paid to each child
respectively imediately as soon as he she or they shall attain
the Age of one and twenty years or Day of Marriage as aforesaid
it being my Will true intent and meaning that neither of my said
Childrne shall be kept out of or detained from his or her Legacy
till all of them shall attain the Age of one and twenty years
or be Married as aforesaid (anything hereinbefore contained to
the Contrary notwithstanding) Also I give unto my Brother
in Law and Partner Mr John Pike the Sum of Twenty



Pounds in token of my regard and esteem for him Also I give
and bequeath unto my said Wife Susanna Green all my
Household Goods Linnen Plate Bedding and all other my
Household Furniture whatsoever and wheresoever that shall
appertain or belong unto me at the time of my death all the
rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels Stock in Trade
Money and all other my Effects and Estate whatsoever and
wheresoever and of what kind or nature soever I give devise
and bequeath unto my said Wife To hold and enjoy the same
during the time of her Widowhood and if She continues my Widow
untill her death then I hereby empower my said Wife to give
and dispose of my said Residuary Estate unto and amongst
all of my said Children as shall be living at the time of her death
in such manner as to her shall seem fit but if my said Wife
shall Intermayy with an other Husband then and imediately
after such Marriage I give devise and bequeath my said
Residuary Estate unto and among all my said Children as shall be
then living at the time of such Marriage to be equally divided
between them share and share alike to be paid them
respectively in like manner as their respective Legacys above
mentioned shall become due and payable and Lastly I do
nominate constitute and appoint my said Loving Wife Susanna
Green whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and
Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any
time heretofore made and do nominate and appoint Mr Thomas
Bird of Poole Hosier and Mr Benjamin Linthorne of Poole
Malster to be Overseers and Trustees of this my Will to be
Assisting to my said Wife in and about the Execution of this
my Will to each of whom I give one Gold Ring as a token
of my Affection for them In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and Seal the Sixth Day of April in the
year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and fifty one
Young Green  Signed Sealed Published and Declared by
the said Testator Young Green as and for his last Will and
Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and at
his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto
subscribed our Names as Witnesses several Interlineations and

This Will was Proved at London the Nineteenth Day of
November in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred
and fifty one before the Right Worshipful John Bettesworth
Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative
Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Susanna
Green Widow the Relict of the deceased and sole Executrix in the
said Will named to whom administration was granted of all and
singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased being
first Sworn by Commission duly to administer
