This is the last Will
and Testament of me John Gawler of Ramridge Weyhill in
the County of Southampton and of Essex Street London Esqr
I give devise and bequeath unto my dear and much
esteemed wife Caroline Gawler the Oldest surviving Daughter
of the late John Low Bellenden and to our dear and only
Children John Bellenen Gawler and Henry Gawler and to the Heirs and
assigns of the said Caroline Gawler John Bellenden
Gawler and Henry Gawler all that my Manor or
Lordship of Ramridge with the Rights Members and
appurtenances and also my capital Mansion of
Ramridge and all my Messuages Lands Tenements and
Hereditaments situate lying and being at Ramridge
Weyhill Duck Street Nutbin and Poulton Grafton & in
the Parish of Weyhill or elsewhere in the County of
Southampton and at Chats Pollards or elsewhere in
the County of Wilts with the Rights Members and
Appurts thereunto respectively belonging To have and
to hold such and so much of the same Heredits
and other of the Premises as are of the Nature of
Freehold of Inheritance or of which I am seized in
Fee simple or any Person or Persons In Trust for me
to the only proper use and Behoof of the said
Caroline Gawler John Bellenden Gawler and Henry
Gawler their Heirs and Assigns for ever and to have
and to hold such and so much of the said Manor 
Lands Heredits and Premises as are of the Nature of
Leasehold for Lives or of which I am seized or any
Person or Persons In trust for me for the Lives or
Life of any Person or Persons to and to the use of
the said Caroline Gawler John Bellenden Gawler and
Henry Gawler their Heirs and Assigns for and during
the Lives and Life of such Person or Persons and of
the Survivors and Survivor of them and for and
during such further or other Estate or Estates Interest
or Interests which I have in the said last mentioned
Heredits and Premises respectively Nevertheless In Trust
as to the whole of the said Manor Lands Heredits and
Premises herein before devised or mentioned so to be as
well of the Nature of Freehold of Interitance as those
holden for Lives or Life they the said Caroline Gawler
John Bellenden Gawler and Henry Gawler and the
Survivors and Survivor of them her or his Heirs or
Assigns do and shall as soon as conveniently may be and
Circumstances will permit after my Decease make Sale of
the whole of the said Manor Heredits and other the



Premises either together or in Parcels as they or the
Survivors or Survivor of them shall think proper
and to make Conveyances thereof accordingly and it is
my Will and Intent that the Receipt or Receipts of my
said Wife and Sons or the Survivors or Survivor of them
shall be good and effectual Descharges to the Purchaser or
Purchasers for the Money so to be paid and that such
Purchaser or Purchasers shall not after such Receipt
or Receipts given be answerable for the Application or
Misapplication of the Monies specified in such Receipt or
Receipts and I hereby declare and direct that the Monies
to arise by Sale of the said Lands hereditaments and
Premises so devised In Trust to be sold and also the
Rents and Profits thereof to arise and accrue from the
Time of my Decease until such Sale or Sales shall be had
and perfected shall go to and be paid and applied to the
person and for the Purposes herein after mentioned 
concerning the same Also I give unto my dear and
esteemed wife her Diamonds Pearls Watches Trinkets 
and other her Personal Ornaments and also our own
and min and our Sons Pictures all by Sir Joshua Reynolds
and also so much of my plate Furniture and Household
Goods not exceeding the value of three hundred pounds 
for her own use Also I give unto my said wife and Sons
all the Rest and Residue of my plate Furniture Household
Goods Carriage Horses the Monies which I may have in the
Funds at the Time of my Decease or due or owing to me
upon Mortgages and all other my personal Estate of 
what Nature or Kind soever which I may be possessed
of or intitled unto at the Time of my Decease and also
the Monies to arise by Sale of the Lands and other my
real Estate so devised by me In Trust to be sold as 
aforesaid and the Rents and Profits thereof until such
Sale or Sales shall be had and perfected To the use
Intent and Purpose that my said Wife shall have
receive and take thereout or by and out of the
Interest thereof the yearly Sum of three hundred
pounds for and during the Term of her natural Life
by half yearly payments the first payments to be
made within two Months next after the Time of my
Decease and to be paid clear of all Taxes and other 
Deductions whatsoever and subject thereto to pay to
my only Sister the wife of The Revd Mr Robert Simpkinson
of Lenton in the county of Hereford and also to their
Daughter one hundred pounds apiece and also to my
oldest Son John Bellenden Gawler five thousand pounds
for his own use and subject thereto to divide and pay
the Residue and Surplus of the said Monies unto my
said two Sons Share and Share alike and I appoint
my said Wife and Sons Executors of this my Will In
witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and
Seal this seventeenth Day of February one thousand

John Gawler in the presence of us who in his presence
and at his Request have hereunto set our Names as

This Will was proved at London on
the tenth Day of January in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and four before the Worshipful
Charles ??te Doctor of Laws Surrogate of The Right
Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws &
Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of
Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Henry
Gawler the Son of the Decease and one of the surviving
Executors named in the said will to whom Admon of all
and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the
Deceased was granted he having been first sworn duly
to administer Power being reserved of making the
like Grant to John Bellenden Gawler the Son also of the
Deceased and the othe rsurviving Executor named in
the said Will when he shall apply for the same
