In the name of the father of the Sonne and of the hoalie ghouste amen I John Cutt of bristowe
Marchannte and late Maior there beinge sicke in Bodeye but of safe and PERfecte memorye (God therefore be praysed)
Callinge to my Remembrannce that as Deathe is incidente to all men Soe the tyme of the same is uncertaine &
unknowne unto all Parsonnes saveinge to the almightie god Doe therefore aswell for the Declaraconn of my
faithe and Dewtie to God As alsoe for the orderlye distributinge of that poore tallente of worldlye goodes
that god hathe Commended unto me his unworthye servannte declare and make this my testamente comprehendinge
my last will and meaninge in mannor & fourme followinge Firste I doe Commende my Sowle unto almightie
god assureinge my selfe that by the oneleye mearites of the passionne of Jesus Christe his Sonne and my
Savior I shall enherrite the kingdome of heaven a place prepared for all suche as onely putt theire truste in him
Of wch nomber I accompte and ame certaineley perswaded that I ame a member in the which faithe I truste to contynue
to thende of this mortall life my Boddeye proceadeinge of therthe I doe commytt to the same againe to be buried
wt in the PARisshe Churche of Sainte Warborowghe in Bristowe aforesaide in suche conveniente place as to my
executrix and overseers shall seeme meete and conveniente Item I give and demize to my loveinge wife Johanne all my
Mannor and Lordshippe of Burnette in the Countie of Somerset wt all his Rights members and apprtenanncs to the
same belonginge And all howses edifics Buildings Landes meadowes Leases pastures Commons feadings Rents
Reverconns fines and heredittaments whatsoever wt all and singuler thapprtenanncs to the same Mannor and Lordshipp
apperteyninge And alsoe all and singuler other my Landes tenements Rents Reverconns fines and heredittaments wth
all and singuler thapprtenanncs wch I have or of righte ought to have in wells and Burnett aforesaide and ellswhere
in the Countie of Somerset To have and to houlde the said Mannor and Lordshippe of Burnette with all his
Rights members and appurtenanncs and all other the prmisses whatsoever to the same Johanne my wife for tearme of lx
yeares (if she soe longe lyve) The Remainder thereof after thende and determinaconn of the saide estate grannted to
my saide wife to william Cutt my Sonne and to theires males of his Boddeye Lawfulleye Begottonne And if it
happenne my saide Sonne william to decease wtoute heires males of his Bodeye Lawfulleye Begottonne 
Then I will and demize that the saide Mannor and Lordshippe and all other the prmisses before expressed wth theire
Appurtenanncs shall remaine and come after the determinaconn of the saide estate grannted to my saide wife as above
saide to my Sonne Nicholas Cutt To have and to houlde the same to the saide Nicholas and his heires males of
his Bodeye Lawfulleye Begottonne forever And if it happenne the saide Nicholas to decease wth oute heires
males of his Bodeye Lawfulleye Begottonne Then I will and demize that the saide Mannor and lordshipp
of the saide estate grannted to my saide wife to Mathewe Cutt my Sonne and to his heires males of his
Bodeye Lawfulleye Begottonne forever And for lacke of suche yssewe the Remainder thereof to my


Righte heires forever Item alsoe I give and demize to my saide wife my Parsonage of Chewton keynsham in the saide
Countie of Soemerset wt all mannor of tithes proffitts Commodities and apprtenanncs whatsoevr to the same belonginge
together wt all the haye profitts and Commodities that I yeareley have or of righte oughte to have in Brodmeade
lienge in Chewton keynesham aforesaide in as lardge and ample mannor as I do nowe enioye the same or of righte
oughte to have and enioye the same To have and to houlde the saide Parsonage of Chewton keynesham wt all
mannor of tithes PROfitts Commodities & apprtenanncs thereunto belonginge together wt the saide haye PROfitts &
Commodities of Brodmeade aforesaide to the saide Johanne my wife for tearme of lx yeares (if she soe longe
lyve) & after the Determinacon and ende of the saide estate grannted to my saide wife I will and demize that my
Sonne Mathewe Cutt abovenamed shall have and enioye the saide PARsonaige wt the saide tithes PROfitts comodits
and apprtenanncs thereunto belonginge And also the haye proffitts and Commodities of the saide meade called
Brodmeade for lxxx yeares (if the saide Mathewe shall soe longe lyve) The saide Mathewe yeldinge and
payinge yeareleye dureinge the saide tearme to the siade Willm Cutt and to his heires males fowre Poundes of
Lawfull Monnye of englannde At twoe tearmes or feasts of the yeare (viz) the feasts of St Mighell and
Thannnaconn of our Ladye the virgynne by even proconns And after thende and determinaconn of the
saide estates grannted to my saide wife and to the saide Mathewe I will and my meaninge is that the saide
Parsonage wt all the saide tithes proffitts Commodities and apprtenanncs thereunto belonginge And alsoe
the haye proffitts and Commodities of the saide meade called Brodmeade shall remaine and come to the saide
William Cutt and to his heires males of his Bodeye Lawfulleye Begottonne The Remainder thereof for
lacke of suche yssue of the Bodeye of the saide Willm to the said NicholasCutt and to his heires males of
his Body Lawfulleye Begottonne forever The Remainder thereof for lacke of suche yssewe of the Bodey of the
saide Nicholas to the saide Mathewe and to his heires males of his Bodey Lawfulleye Begottonne forever The
Remainder thereof for lacke of suche yssewe of the Bodeye of the saide Mathewe to the right heires of me the
saide John Cutt for evermore Anye thinge in this my pnte testamente menconed to the contrarye in anye wise not
with standinge Item alsoe I give and demize to my saide wife the howse wth thapprtenanncs wherein I do nowe
dwell in Bristowe scituate in Cornestreate and all other my Landes tennements and heredittaments with theire
appurtenanncs wch I have in Bristowe aforesaide (excepte all suche Stables as before this tyme I gave
to my saide Sonne NicholasTo have the same howse and all other my Landes tennements and heredittaments in
Bristowe (excepte before excepted) to her and to her Assignes for tearme of lx yeares (if she soe longe lyve) the
Remainder thereof after the determinaconn of the saide estate grannted to my saide wife to my saide Sonne
Nicholas and to his heires As by a deade of feoffamente thereof made to him by me dothe appeare more at
Lardge Item I give to my saide Sonne William Cutt one hundreth Poundes of Lawfull Monnye of
Englannde to be paide unto him wt in twoe Monnethes nexte after my decease uppon Condiconn that before
the tyme of the Receipt of the same hundreth Poundes he shalbe bounde to my saide wife his Naturall
mother by a Sufficiente Bond obligatorye in the Somme of Fyve hundred Poundes of Lawfull monnye
of englande that his saide mother and her assigne or assignes shall or maye have and quietley enioye the saide
Mannor of Burnett and other the premisses wt thapprtenanncs to her Bequeathed and demized by this my Last
will and testamente accordinge to the true meaninge and entente of the same withoute the interrupcon evicconn vexacon
molestaconn or ympedymente of the saide William Cutt or of his heires or of anye other Parsonne or Parsonnes
by his or theire meanes assente or procuremente Item I give to the saide Mathewe my Sonne one hundred
Poundes of Lawfull monnye of englannde to be paide to him when he shall accomplisshe to the aige of xxi yeres
And my will is that if his Mr wth whome he shalbe prentice wilbe bounde with good and sufficiente 
Sureties to mine executrix and Overseers for the trewe annswereinge of the saide Hundreth Poundes to the
saide Willm at the saide aige of xxi tie yeares That then his saide Mr shall have the occupacon of the saide
Somme of one hundreth Poundes dureinge the tyme that he shalbe his apprentice Item I give to Bridgette
my Dawghter xxxiii l vi s viii d of Lawfull Monnye of Englannde over and above the hundred Poundes wch
I delivered to my brother in Lawe John Riche to her use the saide Somme of xxxiii l vi s viii d togethr
wth the said C l to be paide unto her at the daye of her marriage Provided alwaies that if the saide Mathewe


and Bridgett or either of them do decease before the tyme appointed for the paymente of theire or either of theire legacs
of monnye before rehersed Then I will that the parte and porconn of him or her that shall so decease shalbe
equallie devided amonngeste all my Childrenne that shalbe then lyveinge Item I give to my saide Sonne Nicholas
Cutt my Skarlette gowne Item I give to my Sonne in Lawe John Bysse my Gowne furred wt Jennytts Item
give to my Sonne in Lawe Robert Sandforde my Gowne lyned wt Satteine and my newe Gowne and alsoe
a Sattaine Doblette Item I give to my Brother in Lawe Thomas Kelcke my velvette Coate Item I give to my
Brother in Lawe John Riche a ringe of doulde of the vallewe of xl s Item I give to John Bysses Childrenne
my Cassocke of Tammaske and Satteine Coate The reste of my apparrell I give to my saide Sonne William
Item I Geve to the poore people in the almeshowse in the marshe in Bristowe iiii l Item I geve to my poore
worckmen the tuckers and others vi l to be devided at the discreconn of my executrix and overseers The residewe of
all my Goodes plate monnye Jewells merchanndizes and Chattells not bequeathed by this my Testamente my debts &
funerall expencs paide I give unto my saide wife whome I make my Soale executrix of this my Last will and
testamente And do nominate and appointe thabovenamed Thomas kelcke John Bysse Roberte Sandforde and
Nicholas Cutt overseers of this my Laste will and testamente Prayinge them to assiste my saide executrix with
theire good advise and helpe in the execuconn of the same In witnes whereof I have to theis pnts putt my hand
and Seale the tenthe daye of Januarie a thowsannde fyve hundreth Seaventie one in the Fowreteneth
yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Ladye Elizabeth by the grace of God of Englannde Frannce and
Irelande quene Defendor of the faithe &c  Item I do forgyve and Remytte to my saide Sonne Willm Cutt
all suche debtes as he dothe owe unto me uppon Condiconn that he doe enter into thabovesaide Bonde of
Fyve hundred Poundes to his saide mother This testamente of myne conteyninge fyve Leaves By
