In the name of God Amen I Margarett
Browne of the Cittie of Bristowe widowe late wife of John Browne Marchannte
and Alderman of the same Cittie beinge of good health and perfect memorie prayse
be given to god therefore and knowinge that death is incident to all parsonnes and sudden-
ly approcheth Do therefore ordaine and make my Testament containinge therein my
last will in manner and fourme followinge First I bequeath my soule to Allmightie
god my Creator And to Jhesus Christe my Savior and Reademer and to the holie ghoste
my Sanctifer and preserver trustinge in the meere mercie of god the Father thoroughe
the merritts of the Deere passion of his sweete sonne Jhesus Christe that I shalbe ac-
compted in the nomber of those parsonnes that shall enioye the fruition of his glorie and
to be placed amongest his elect in the kingdome of heaven.  And my bodie I will to be
buried in the Parrishe Church of Sainte Nicholas in the saide Cittie of Bristowe
Item I doe devise give and bequeath to my sonne  John Browne my two messuags
or Tenements with the appurtenanncs scituate and being uppon the backe of Bristowe
wch I holde in Fee Farme of the Maior and Cominaltie of the same Cittie In one of
wch Messuages or Tennements my owne Father Mr Roger Cooke sometime dwelte And
wherein my sonne in lawe John Roberts now dwelleth And in the other Tennemente
one Arthure Hibbens Marchaunt now dwelleth To have and to holde the saide twoe
Messuages or Tennements with all and singuler theire appurtenanncs to the saide John
Browne my sonne and to the heires males of his bodie lawfullie begotten.  And for wante
of such yssue to the right heires of my saide sonne John Browne forever  Item I give
and   confirme  to my Daughter Alce the wife of my sonne in lawe John Robertes the
Annuitie of eight poundes yearelie wch was bequeathed unto her by my said husband John
Browne Item I do give unto my sonne in lawe John Roberts for a token of my love and
good will a Portigne of goulde And to my daughter Alce hsi wyfe I give twenty poundes

ell a paire of sheetes a paire of Pillowe beeres and a pillowe my second best Carpett my
second best Coverlett my second best brasen panne that was my Fathers and a Spruce
Cheste that lyethe in the best Chamber under the windowe Item I give to my goddaughter
Margarett Pendigrace the some of thirtie poundes to be paide unto her at her daie of mar-
riage And more I give to her my parell gilde goblett and my white silver pott the littell
g?lte Trenchr salte and three silver Spoones Moore I give to her of howshold stuffe a
Featherbedd a feather boulster a Flockbed a feather Pillowe a Flower Coverlett a paire of blancketts a paire
of sheetes a pillowe bere a paire of Candlesticks fower platters a Crocke two pottingers 
fower Sawcers a kettell a broche a pott hooke a pott hanginges a Chest wch lieth to my bedd
side and a littell Cheste which lieth in the Gallarie Item I give to Fortune Pendigrace 
the some of twentie poundes to be paide to her att her Daie of marriage And more I give to
her in howshold stuffe a Featherbedd and a boulster a paire of Sheetes a Coverlett a Tablecloth
a dozen of napkins a panne a Crocke fower platter two pottingers fower Sawcers a paire of
Candle sticks a broche a potthooke and potthangers and a Cofer Item I give to Martha Pendigrace
the some of twentie poundes to be paide to her at her daie of marriage And more I give to
her in howshold stuffe a flockbedd a paire of Sheetes a Coverlett a table clothe a dozen of nap-
kins a panne a Crocke fower platters two porringers fower Sawcers a apire of Candlesticks a
potthooke and a potthangers and a Cofer Item I give to Marie Pendigrace the some of thirtie
poundes to be paide to her at her daie of marriage And more I give to her in howshold stuffe
a featherbed and a boulster a paire of Sheetes a redd rugge Coverlett a Table Clothe a dozen of
Napkins a Crocke a panne fower platters two pottingers fower Sawcers a paire of candlesticks
a broche a pott hooke and pott hangers and a Cofer Provided and my will is that yf anie of
the aforesaide Daughters of Robert Pendigrace do die before the leagacies and howshold stuffe
given to them be due That then the leagacie and howshold stuffe of everie such daughter which
so shall die shall remaine to the other Systers that shalbe then livinge equallie to be devided
amongest them Item I do give and bequeath unto the Seaven Childrenne of my sonne John
Browne the some of two hundred poundes in monie equallie to be distributed and paide unto
them at theire daies of marriage or age of one and twentie yeares which soever of the same
shall firste happen provided allwaies and my will and meaninge is that yf anie of the said
Childrenne of my saide sonne John Browne shall die before the times of dystribution and
paiment of the saide somme of two hundred poundes as aforesaide That then the parte and
portion of everie such of the saide Childrenne so dyinge shall remaine and be paide to the
reste of the saide Childrenne wch shall survive to be equallie devided amongest them
accordinge to hte true intente and meaninge of this my will Item I give and bequeath to
my neece Grace Browne Daughter to my   sonne John Browne my best Feather
bedd and boulster and a paire of sheets a paire of blancketts a damaske b????? cloth with a doble
Towell of the same Tenne napkins of the same Adn all my Childe bedd clothes eighte
platters eight porringers eight sawcers my great panne my great crocke a paire of candle
sticks and a Coffer Item I give to my servannte Alce Fortie shillinges in monie and
allso a mourninge gowne and a petticote and two smocks and the rest of my wearing lynnen
as kerchers parteletts &c I do give it betwene the fower Daughters of Robert Pendigrace
Item I give to the hospitall at the Gaunts in Bristoll the somme of Tenne poundes in
monie And allso I give to the house of Correction in Bristoll the somme of Tenn poundes
for a s??cke to sett poore people ?????? there by the order and discretion of the Maior and Aldermen
of the saide Cittie of Bristoll from time to time forever  And allso I give Five pounds
to the poore people of the Parrishe of Sainte Nicholas in Bristoll And five poundes
to the poore people of the Parrishe of Sainte Phillipes in Bristoll aforesaid And I do
allso give to twelve poore weomen fryse gownes and kerchers uppon the daie of my Funerall
Item all the reste of my goodes landes leases Debtes Chattells moveables and unmoveables what


soever and wheresoever I do give and bequesthe unto my Sonne John Browne whome I doe
make and ordaine my full and whole Executor of this my laste will and Testament to
see my Debtes paide my leagacies performed and my Funerall dischardged And for my
Overseers I do appointe my lovinge and faithefull Frendes my sonne in lawe Mr John
Robertes Mr Jherom Ham Towne Clarke of Bristowe and my Cozen Mr Thomas Pitt
Chamberlaine of the saide Cittie And for a token of my good will I dove to everie of
them a mourninge gowne of Fower poundes price In wittnes whereof and that this ys
my laste will and Testament and herein revolkinge all former willes whatsoever by me
heretofore made I the saide Margarett Browne have hereunto putt my hand and
Seale even the eight daie of Februarie in the yeare of our lorde god one thowsande
six hundred and fower And in the second yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lorde
James by the grace of god of England Fraunce and Ireland kinge Defender of the
Faithe And of Scotland the eight and thirteth  M B  Sealed and delivered in the
preasence of us Jherom Ham John Gunynge
